sometimes I'm so lonesome

At this time of year I am always sorta sad. Winter seems so dreary to me. I love the cold (when we get cold as we have today), a little snow (like we had last week) and the toasty bed when it is time for sleep. I DON’T love the dreary, no sun, cold, snow and short days. As usual this time of year, I get lonesome. I miss my family that is waiting for me in heaven, I miss our pets that have crossed the rainbow bridge, and I miss the long days and warm weather.

I am so very blessed that there is really no reason for me to be sad or lonesome. I have a wonderful husband… Mr. S is so very good to me. Even when he gets on my nerves. Katie is a great daughter. She is doing very well and will graduate soon with her PhD. She already has a job she likes and is happy. She has even brought a nice guy into our lives. . . . . . And a grand-kitten. J

It occurred to me today that I am middle-aged! Big surprise I know. I am just amazed that my life is more over than is left; my mom has been gone longer than I was with her here on earth, my big brother lives in another state and I don’t see him as often as I want to.

I have so many things I want to do… travel…make countless quilts (maybe for a someday grandchild)… make scrapbooks…. Read all the books that interest me… love on my kid ….and my hubby….and my dog. …. Be happy in the sun…be happy in the winter… share the great old photos we recently found with my cousins…. See my family happy and in a good place… ride a horse… raise some chickens… travel…. Go with my love to Alaska…go on an ocean cruise….write a book………..so many things I want to do.

5.23.09 Saturday

whew-- what a week. we had a blast at the beach--but now back home. it is taking me a while to get all "blogger caught up" I have all of them ready to post just slow getting it done....
anyway--today's POTD reflects where this last week has been --- we drove 350+ miles on two Saturday's in a row (to SC and back to TN) and some driving while there....we didn't do much driving while we were there but here it is--- the most we paid for gas was $2.34 gal in a little town in SC so that wasn't too bad

and Mr S playing checkers with Brad at Cracker Barrel where we had dinner

5.20.09 Wednesday

this morning at 4 am Katie and Brad arrived to have fun at the beach with us. The S's walked down to the beach while Brad caught up on some sleep.

Mr S and Katie walked the beach..it was too cold to get in the water still.
these little fellas were near our Villa. We looked for them every time we wet out. They were so neat. We watched them many times to see what they were up too. They were living in a drain pipe near the inlet. Once we came out to their area and saw one of the smallest wandering around ..we were still and listened .... and heard the mom calling the baby to come home.. we even got to watch the little one look around and then go to the pipe and go home
we loved these pretty little flowers growing on the beach--not sure what they are except pretty

we were still pretty tired from being up most of the night so we spent a lot of time just lazing around the by the pool and in the hot saltwater tub Brad especially loved it

5.2.09 Saturday

this is the POTD-- the three of us at the Pink Palace
We went to have lunch with Katie at the http://www.cbqmemphis.com/
spent this afternoon at the

This is where our DD Katie works. We got the Scoop on Poop (this was the last day of this exhibit) and went to the Imax. It is so good to see where the education is leading the young lady. Who knew she would learn all about Poop??

anyway, then we saw where her real interest are --the Egyptian displays. We saw a Imax movie about Mummies http://www.memphismuseums.org/imax_mummies/ and another about The Grand Canyon http://www.memphismuseums.org/grandcanyon/

We then went to Church with Sharon (Brad's mom) at the biggest church i have ever been too.... a lot different from our little church but nice none the less.http://www.hopepres.com/ Then to dinner at the Memphis Pizza Cafe--http://www.memphispizzacafe.com/ then back to the hotel to sleep and rest

5.1..09 Friday

soooo--- today we went on our way to Memphis. By the time we got started last night and drove a while we made it just on the other side of Nashville to Dickson. It started getting dark and stated to rain so we decided to stop where we were. It rained an stormed so hard during the night we were almost shaken out of the bed.
today we started off the rest of the way to Memphis--- raining so hard at times we couldn't see where we were going.... but that was OK because we were all going about 35 MPH on the interstate.
Anyway we had seen this sign the last time we went there for the Tennessee Freshwater Pearl Museum in Birdsong,TN so there we decided to stop there. Our advice for this tourist destination--- DON'T. #1-- there is no Museum #2--look at the prices for the "tours" on the sign where i am standing...... UMMMM it is in a little store in a Marina about 12 miles of the interstate on a little twisty country road.....

we did make it to Memphis and our hotel fine and had dinner with Katie and Brad at the American Cafe'.. beautiful desserts

3.31.09 I PASSED!!!!!

we were in meetings all morning at work today. I came back from my session and had a email from a friend asking if I had heard from the CPC exam yet...so i hopped on the web site for the AAPC to see. Much to my amazement(shock, surprise, etc etc) i found that i passed the exam. If you look closely you will see that i made 76%--you had to make at least 70% on all sections. I dont care how closely I squeeked by---I PASSED!!!!!
everyone at work found out pretty fast because they all heard me gasp with surprise LOL
WHEEEEEEEEE! go me! I feel like i have won a race !

Monday 3.17.09

Happy St Patricks Day!!! are you wearing green??
Today was a beautiful day in East Tennessee.... the sun was shining, the sky was blue and the temp got up to almost 80 degrees. Today my brother, Brad, went back to the Dr. The Dr. twisted and turned his legs and ---drum roll please---he had no hip pain!!! Praise God!!! he is still having lots of pain in other parts of his body and cant go back to work until maybe April 15 but the hips are better!!! Please continue to pray about his job security.
Today's POTD is outside the parking lot at the Y--- i was sitting there looking around since I was early for my class. When this tree caught my attention---look at the way the tree grew...it made way for whatever was in it's way. See how the branches are nearly perpendicular to the ground? but it (whatever it was that was in the way) didn't stop the tree from persevering and growing up into the sky---good lesson for me --- not to be overwhelmed by whatever is in my way but to grow around it!

PS-- Hi Brad and Katie---

Sunday 3.15.09

We went to meet Katie and Brad (mentioned you again Brad!) at the Red Lobster in Oak Ridge-- along with Lois, Mark and Charlie and Lillian... Let's just say that the food was good---Lillian was not.
The waitress made a mistake and put the appetizer Brad and Katie ordered on Charlie and Lillian's order and she made a big deal out of it. We tried to give Charlie the money for it but she just kept on and on. I just don't understand what the deal is with her. Even Charlie was embarrassed at the way she was behaving.
We did have a good time with Katie and Brad and Mark and Lois though
On the way home i took this picture of what is the disaster site in Roane County--- The TVA Kingston Fossil Fuel Plant

Saturday 3.14.09

Today we had the wonderful privilege to have dinner with Katie and Brad at the Apple Barn Restaurant in Pigeon Forge. We had a wonderful dinner. Mr. S's sister Lois joined us. It was rainy and really yucky outside but we had a great time visiting. Katie and Brad were here for her spring break. They did get to hike just a little on Friday ..but Saturday was spent inside. Well they did get to go to play putt-putt but that was about it.
The food was great as usual. and we had a great time laughing at each other and my Dollywood picture ID
Brad--Brad--Brad--Brad---made sure I mentioned you numerous times in my blog

thursday

Thursday 2/26/09--gosh it is hard to think that the month of February is almost over. It has been 2 months since we have seen our girl. My brother, Brad, moved to the rehab floor and is working hard at getting back home. I was cleaning up at work today and realized I had nothing to put in my folder for January--- I did not work one day in January.... 1/12th of a year gone and now another month all gone nearly.
my POTD is kinda boring but all I did was stop to get gas to get home on lol---Gas is lower in price now than it has been

02.24.09 Mardi Gras

today is Mardi Gras (fat or shrove Tuesday) we celebrated at work today with a King Cake....must not have had a baby in it---or no one admitted to finding it anyway

in other news--my brother got moved to a inpatient rehab floor. He is still in terrible pain. I can hear the depression in his voice. He has an area of breakdown on his behind and it is getting bigger and bigger. The last wound he had on his leg took 18 months to heal. Please. please. please keep him in your prayers. I can tell he is afraid he will never get any better. he is only 57 years old--but in this economy he is also worried about his job...another worry he doesnt need just now

Today we got home from visiting my brother. He is in a great deal of pain. I did get some neat pictures of him and their granddaughter Abbie. the POTD today is Abbie and Papaw sitting in his hospital bed.
Abbie is a precious little girl and allowed us to play with her and hold her even though she has never seen us before..... good to meet a new great niece.
We had snow when we got up this morning in W Kentucky. Snow on the plateau on the way home and just cold when we got home. added another 500+ miles to the odometer this weekend.

not so much....

today my brother is not doing to well. He is having a lot of pain and not able to move too much. He is in more pain now than he was. I am really worried about him...if you pray please say another one for my brother Brad. I am going to try to go see him this weekend if I can get hold of Lesa to board the dogs.

In other parts of my life.... the POTD is posted much to my shame. Well it is actually much to my DH's shame it is a picture of the garage. It is really that it needs a good cleaning and more storage---and cleaning
