4/28/09 Tuesday

Mr S has worked like a Trojan on the waterfall this spring. he has it going some times LOL... He has added lots of extra rock to the bottom near the liner.........soon we will be ready for fish(ies) to join Fish in the outdoor sanctuary {{{ let me explain that Fish (with a capital-as in a proper name) that lives in a tank in the living room will soon move outdoor with some new little friends that wait at the store for us}}}
We have already acquired some wild frogs that are enjoying the water and wetlands area---love the sound of "peepers" in the spring
We have the Lily in and growing leaves for shade and the hopefully a white flower. We have also planted 3 cat tails growing to help with the purification... not sure what else we can put in there--it is a learning process this year

I gave it to him tonight and he stuck it in his back pocket...... Well today was not a cool day around here--and with his body heat added.... this is what happened to his candy bar

4.25.09 Saturday

I was blessed to go to Tina and Billy's wedding. It was such a wonderful event. I loved watching two people who love each other pledge to love each other for always. The bride was beautiful. The groom was handsome. The church was beautiful. The reception was wonderful.

Tina and Billy worked hard with a difficult situation to make a beautiful day... nothing else to say except it was a day full of LOVE-- Tina and Billy deserve the best life has to offer and they are well on their way to a life time of love and joy

4.21.09 Tuesday

this time of year always makes me kinda sad and morose. This year particularly so. My mother passed away 4/9/1982. It happened to be Good Friday. She was buried on Easter Sunday 4/11/1982. This year the dates were eerily close to the date all those years ago... ready for some cold chills?? She was born on Christmas Day 12/25/1922. The similarities of Christ life always struck me..... same birth day and same day of death. I always thought it fitting that she was buried on Easter Sunday--- The day that gives us hope in the future in Heaven

now my wonderful Mother (Mary Christmas May Jackson) did not have a easy life....she grew up in the depression on a farm--poorer than dirt apparently. She worked for the company that took their family farm, was exposed to toxic substances while at work, married the man she loved-who loved and hurt her unbearably-- had three children (two who grew to adulthood), worked hard every day as a cook in a restaurant and later in a sewing factory, got sick and suffered horribly from the toxicity that she was exposed to all those years before... and finally died at age 59 years old.........so very very very sad. She loved her children more than life itself. She was a great Mom and I still miss her

4.18.09 Saturday

pretty Image intensive--
Our trip around the world---OK not really we went to the festival of nations at Dollywood. We got to see all of the shows we wanted to see.... which was pretty amazing. We sawthe Jennifer Roland band from Nova Scotia--she sure can fiddle and dance. She was backed up by several men but i couldn't get their pics
The next group played something called a Hang-Drum. the group name is Keona--thought i would remember what it meant---but i didn't. It is apparently one of the newer instruments on the market. Makes a uniquely eerie kind of neat sound. It is a percussion instrument with something added. This group is from France and England... pretty cool http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_(musical_instrument)
hear it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQXn5ba0aT8 Ann Marie--I thought of you several times during the day with all of the musical experiences we were having.
next was back to the Zambians--for a look or two---went to their show twice more actually

Mexico--Calpulli Dance Co---from NY????
Lithuania--Dainava--folk music--- the ladies had beautiful voices. 'Course we didn't understand it--but it was beautiful The dancing reminded me of American old folk dances

Belgium-Royal Stiltwalkers of Merchtem---- 12 feet tall. Didn't realize how little they had to move to get the stilts to move in great leaps. pretty cool

4.15.09 Wednesday

The dogwood trees are blooming-- They are beautiful as usual. So they are the POTD

please see the neighboring towns homage to the Dogwood tree http://www.dogwoodarts.com/home.html
and the legend of the Dogwood

In Jesus time, the dogwood grew To a stately size and a lovely hue.
'Twas strong and firm, it's branches interwoven For the cross of Christ it's timbers were chosen.
Seeing the distress at this use of their wood Christ made a promise which still holds good:
"Never again shall the dogwood grow Large enough to be used so.
Slender and twisted, it shall be With blossoms like the cross for all to see.
As blood stains the petals marked in brown The blossom's center wears a thorny crown.
All who see it will remember Me Crucified on a cross from the dogwood tree.
Cherished and protected this tree shall be A reminder to all of My agony."

4.14.09 Tuesday

a dog with 1/2 a haircut??? You may ask what the heck that is... Our elder dog Saidey the Cocker Spaniel who just turned 14 in February seriously HATES to have her haircut. She does just about everything but die on the spot. She trembles and pants and her paws sweat tons.
Despite her age and going to the groomer for years and years she has never got over her fear--we have even gone and stayed with her while she is trimmed. Anyway several years ago I bought some clippers and manage to try to cut her hair as best as i can. (now most of the time she looks much like a rat has tried to chew her hair off but it is OK because it is much easier on her and I don't want to sedate her to take her to the groomer) She isn't a show dog or anything just a beloved pet.
Anyway--- most of the time it takes both of us several days to get her entire body cut because she freaks out and , frankly, I get worn out with trying to dodge her nipping the clippers and trying to hold her. So--sometimes in the fall and summer you will see a black (and now grey) dog with half of her hair cut running around our yard.....sometimes the front is longer and sometimes the back is longer---occasionally the left or right is longer-- for a day or two until we get her all done.
This time i started on Saturday--had a migraine on Sunday and it was cold and rainy yesterday and today---so ...she has her ears done, and part of the front and back and she is all fuzzy in the middle But we Love her just the way she is---clipped or not---or even 1/2

pictures from the front yard---trying out the new camera---not so sure if I like it or not... It is hard to get used to

oh and Someone asked me what kind it is--- it is a Canon PowerShot SX110IS. I needed something with a image stabilizer and easy to use--- Like that it is mega pixels and the zoom---frustration that i don't know how to use it immediately

4.12.09 Easter Sunday

well unfortunately our Easter was not so great... i had my 5th migraine in 8 days so we didn't even make it to church and i was in bed all day.... the pic of the day is Mr.S's favorite Easter Candy---totally secular and not at all religious--but it is what it is

4.11.09 Saturday

This is a mostly finished gift I am making for one of the instructors (Amanda) at the Y. Her baby is due 5.3.09 and will be named Lillee. The spelling is "Lil" for the vernacular 'little' and "Lee" which is Amanda's husband's name. Each letter of the name is decorated with different goodies. The colors of the nursery are chocolate and pink and the "theme" is Sweet Dreams--- but she said there is really NO theme--just the words.
I think it came out really cute!
oh and just as a FYI--- this date 23 years ago was the date that our daughter was due. LOL

3.10.09 Friday

This afternoon a tornado went through Murfreesboro actually pretty close to where Katie lived when she went to MTSU. There was a lady and her 9 week old baby daughter killed and her hubby critically injured.

by the time it got here it was leaving work time-- I started out on Yarnell Road on the way home with some wind and rain. The more I drove the worse the weather got. I was afraid to stop and almost as afraid to keep going. It was like driving in a washing machine!! to make matters worse the radio announcer kept saying "the worst of the storm is right over Yarnell Road" ??Geesh.

I am really glad that it didn't last long and the rain was much needed and appreciated. Just glad it was not worse. Obviously I didn't have time to stop and take a pic, but dear Mr S was at home doing just that--- the pic doesn't do justice to how hard it was raining but it is still the POTD.. and then the afterward as well.
