trying to get caught up on the old posting. Tonight's post is about 3 dogs, two bones and a pigs ear. Tonight as we got home from shopping i decided to give the dogs a treat as they had been alone all day.

Sadiey is the Black Cocker Spaniel (age 14) Mo is the daschund (10 years) and Maggie (brindle colored chihuahua) is the baby of the group (at about 5 years old)

I had two Bondo bones and a pigs ear---usually that would work ok since Saidey likes the Bondo bones, Maggie loves the bondo bones and Mo craves the chewing the pigs ears. said the magic words "who wants a treat" and was instantly surrounded by loving doggies. well anytime you get these three together the two older dogs get a choice of the treat.... Sadiey took one of the bones, Mo took the Pig ear and Maggie was left with the other bone....

then the fun starts--- Saidey carries her bone around hanging out of her mouth like a cigar (she is really betting it moist enough so she can chew it) Maggie carries hers somewhere she can leave it and then tries to steal someone elses..

Tonight Maggie stole Mo's ear and carried them both to the courch, where she had hidden her bone, and left to see if she could manage to wrangle Saidey's bone as well..... while Maggie was gone Mo hopped up to the couch and took over the ear and the bone LOL

next Maggie goes to see if she can sneak the last one from Saidey(eventhough Mo is eating her treat in the meantime) Mo see's what is going on and thinks he may be missing something---so in the end the two goofy dogs sit and watch Saidey enjoy her treat and not be able to enjoy theirs for worrying about it--- and Saidey is oblivious to their problems and loving her Bondo Bone. .....after they get done watching Saidey they will both go get their own treat and have a good time

the backyard now--- still needs lots of work. But at least there is no big pile of dirt sitting there waiting to be moved.

a dog with 1/2 a haircut??? You may ask what the heck that is... Our elder dog Saidey the Cocker Spaniel who just turned 14 in February seriously HATES to have her haircut. She does just about everything but die on the spot. She trembles and pants and her paws sweat tons.

Despite her age and going to the groomer for years and years she has never got over her fear--we have even gone and stayed with her while she is trimmed. Anyway several years ago I bought some clippers and manage to try to cut her hair as best as i can. (now most of the time she looks much like a rat has tried to chew her hair off but it is OK because it is much easier on her and I don't want to sedate her to take her to the groomer) She isn't a show dog or anything just a beloved pet.

Anyway--- most of the time it takes both of us several days to get her entire body cut because she freaks out and , frankly, I get worn out with trying to dodge her nipping the clippers and trying to hold her. So--sometimes in the fall and summer you will see a black (and now grey) dog with half of her hair cut running around our yard.....sometimes the front is longer and sometimes the back is longer---occasionally the left or right is longer-- for a day or two until we get her all done.

This time i started on Saturday--had a migraine on Sunday and it was cold and rainy yesterday and today---so ...she has her ears done, and part of the front and back and she is all fuzzy in the middle But we Love her just the way she is---clipped or not---or even 1/2

Sadiey

Sadiey is some better today. I stopped on the way home and bought some soft canned food for her. She seemed to enjoy eating it and ate about 1/2 can and kept it inside. We went to water aerobics again tonight and I am really really tired. Came home through town and that is the POTD ---good ole Kingston in the dark.

Saidey

well Saidey made it to the vet today with the help of Mark. he decided she was too sick to not take her to the vet. he really felt bad that he didn't take her yesterday , but he thought she had perked up some (she hadn't). Anyway--Dr Bass really didn't find anything wrong with her except she was dehydrated. he gave her some fluids and a couple of shots and if she isn't better and eating by Friday to bring her back. i guess i am still the doubting Thomas in the family.....I cant tell she is any better yet and think our time with her is short.
the POTD is of my new shoes. I got them for Christmas from my DH. the thought is that they are supposed to help with the back pain when i walk.... they are pretty cool looking and i like them a lot

driving Miss Sadiey

today I took my Sadiey to get her nails clipped at the groomer (she hates to go the groomer) so I drove Miss Sadiey to the groomer LOL. Then we had to stop at the vet's and pick up her Rimadyl. She got to go two of her most hated places today. I had forgotten how hard it is to take her anywhere. She is getting quite elderly (just had her 14th birthday) and has trouble with her Cocker Spaniel hips. That on top of the fact that she can not hear much and doesn't see too well...as long as she can see me and tell what i want her to do she is good. I was actually quite pleased at the groomer. i had called in advance and just inquired about getting her nails cut. informed the lady that answered the phone that she is very timid and wanted to know if i could just stay there with her and get it over with. We were there less than 3 minutes and Sadiey did just fine.
Tonight Mark and I headed down to the Good Ol' Days for a burger and then to the grocery store....so here is my pic of the day.. the checker and bagger at Kroger. I explained to Josh and Logan about the picture of the day and project 365 and they were OK with it and me posting it here.

cold again

Today was frigid again. makes me so very thankful for a nice warm place to live and the family that loves me...and amazingly enough(for our area) it snowed yet again today.... we have had more snow this January/February than we have had in ages
A friend of mine, Vicki, was just diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer--so if you think of it please say a prayer for her. She is just getting ready to begin the journey of treatment and procedures.
Today since i have been hunkered down and trying to stay warm i have been watching the furry people in our house. (shhhh they don't know but that would be Sadiey, Mo, Maggie,Tigger Bubba) They each react to cold in their own way--Bubba and Tigger cuddle up somewhere warm --like on my bed. Maggie stays curled up on a pillow on the sofa--and avoids her sweater even though she is freezing. Somehow i think Mo has the best idea--he stays curled up under his blanket in his bed and tries to pretend he is not here where i might try to make him go outside.

more economic bad news

I am listening to the news and it its all about the layoffs of more people in our area. Mark has to work a 12 hr day today (thank God we have jobs) so I haven't seen him yet today---just me and the dogs and cats (oh and Fish)

My brother ans sister-in-law have been "trapped" by another weather disaster.This time ice.Along with a lot of the country they are sheathed in ice and Snow. There is NO power in their county..they have been told to evacuate if they can...Luckily her boys are coming to get them and take them to Matt and Laurie's where they at least have electricity. Brad said the FEMA ans National Guard are coming in today...maybe up to 21 days before the county has electricity again.I know they are just part of a huge disaster

on the other hand I see signs of spring in my yard......the daffodils are getting buds and coming up though the ground . I am going to have to "suck it up' and save for another camera---more and more of my photos are coming out like this
