first for my friend Jennifer- she has been absent for work for many days recently. One week ago she had a surgical procedure to hopefully make the pain leave... The concept for her card was a donkey (which she has a affinity for) and the place her surgery was --ummmm her posterior

finally getting around to posting one of the last creative things i have done. I made this T-shirt Quilt for Katie for Christmas. I didn't have time to quilt it so i tacked it with pink embroidery floss The back is just a simple 9 patch pattern with the left over material from the letters on her shirts. the t-shirts were ones she had when she was first in her sorority- ZTA.

OK-- i am a reader and learning to write. Sometimes I think I over analyze everything..but it really is not a problem because maybe two people read this--- on a good month---and because I don't blog regularly--because nothing much exciting ever happens......

Memories of summer childhood...... I bought some red plums at the grocery store today. When I bit into one this afternoon it took me right back to when i was a small child. One of the first things i remember getting in trouble for. I must have been younger than 5 when this occurred. I remember our landlady Mrs Mixon. We rented a lot for our trailer. It was just a little bitty place (probably way less than a regular lot in urban America) and we lived on the very last of the lots. There were 5 or 4 trailers parked in this small place. Mrs Mixon had the "big house" beside the parking place for the trailers. It was a two story blue house ---probably not all that large but back then it seemed huge...but i digress. Back to the red plums...Mrs Mixon had a red plum tree or two planted right near our home. When the red plums ripened and fell to the ground it was just toooo much -- I had to have those plums. I guess a child i was more deprived than i really realized. Those PLUMS became the thing i had to have. I remember mother telling me not to eat Mrs Mixon's plums... as a little child i probably didn't eat all that many of them but "mean Mrs Mixon" made sure that i didn't get any at all. It is funny how just the taste of a red plum brought all that back........

Mo-now the eldest of our furbabes at age 11- has discovered there are fish in the pond. He is intent on trying to catch one of them. He loves to go out at night with Mr S and his flashlight and see if he can find the irksome little things. He has trouble finding them while looking among all the lillies and the pond lettuce

Sad--Sad--Sad--- there is so much sadness around me.. I feel so terribly sad for my friends. I am like a rayon dress in the middle of winter stuck to your legs with static cling. My friends grief and sadness clings to me. I wish I had a magic compound to help them feel better.

Please say a prayer for my dear friends

Tina-- she is alone this weekend, her job is getting her down . She is still grief stricken from her daughter's death and the physical consequences of her major surgery just before . She is... Broken. I think she has taken all she can take. Her faith is strong--I just don't know how she can go on. Tears.
Sharon--just newly married and should be sooooo happy. Her medical conditions make her life so hard . Her children take advantage of her situation (in the past). Job stress and the need to continue to work. She has a great faith--she trusts in God and still the physical and mental aspects of her disease process is getting to her.

Maggie-- job woes, grown up children and a husband. Her son nearly died in a swimming accident last fall and I know that still haunts her. She is also dealing with the other three friends that are in need of prayer. Maggie and I are both friends with each of the other.It is so difficult to watch friends fall apart and not be able to do anything to help them in their suffering.

Gary--my sweet ,sweet friend. His struggles are of a lost relationship and lost love. He also has physical problems resulting from a freakish accident last Christmas, and new diagnosis of a chronic illness. He now has so much financial responsibility and is not able to work due to both physical and mental wounds. He is struggling also with physical, mental and financial aspects of his new life.

My dear,dear friends--and I--are "standing in the need of prayer" (that is a song). I am listening to many hours of praise and worship songs every day. Now that my job is changed I have more time to plug into the iPod and try to remember the power of prayers and love

well, she did it again--another graduation! This milestone was reached on May 8, 2010 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. She is now a graduate from the University of Memphis. What did she graduate with this time??
Master of Arts concentration in History and a Certificate in Museum Studies.

Now she is off on another Grand Adventure. She is now a Ph.D. candidate at Middle Tennessee State University.

pooor little blog--abandoned for nearly 3 months. It has been such a hectic summer---although i cant put my finger on what has taken all this time. Our daughter graduated from college with her Bachelor's in May and has now moved on to work on her Ph.D. The good news is she is now only 2 hrs 15 minutes from home.
Muse be the time for changing addresses-- Katie moved and this last week my brother and his family moved as well. My brother is actually about 1/2 hour closer to me---only 4 hours now I think.
Tina (my friend from work) has returned to work part time. She is having a lot of pain still--only more now in her heels, neck and migraines. She is under so much stress that is so hard for her body. Yesterday was 3 months since Ginny was taken on to heaven. I still think this is something most of us cant realize how much this changed her life. My thoughts since Ginnys death is that if Tina gets out of bed and continues to breath...well she is doing well if she does that every day.
this last weekend, Katie came home for a little visit and to pick up our grandkitten, Frances, and take her to her new home. I am surprised--- we are all missing "Francie" she is such a good little kitty. I miss her sitting her her "cube" made out of rip stop nylon and "bushwhacking" us as we walk buy...and that proves true for the other cats and dogs too. she is a equal opportunity "bushwhacker" LOL
my friend Jennifer had surgery this morning, I am praying this will help her chronic pain. She is a young woman (early early 30's) and has been terribly impacted by the pain caused by Interstitial Cystits. She has soooo much pain that is not helped by any of the treatments so far. She is ready to move on and get engaged, married and have a family.
it is getting darker earlier and staying darker later in the morning so I am getting all mixed up.... here it is almost 2am and i am still awake... not been to sleep at all yet and i have to be up and at 'em at 6 am. i guess i better go try to sleep again.

With all the pain I have seen this week I appreciate just what I have. I had this whole blog-post composed in my head early today and now my brain has abandoned me. I wanted to express my deep love of family and friends. I am so blessed by the people around me that truly care for me. my husband, my daughter, my brother, so many friends, all the in-laws and my co-workers.

This post is not going as I planned..I wanted it to be positive and uplifting --somehow it is all wrong---posting it anyway---maybe i am just confused or tired or something

So much Sadness-- my heart is broken for my dear friend Tina. Tina and I became fast friends when she came to work at the insurance company. It didn't take long at all--and we were Besties. I (and many others) rejoiced with Tina when Billy proposed and rejoiced even more when they were married April 27,2009. i know there is a blog post about the wedding--i just don't know how to link it here. ......and things were going well for Tina and Billy. Tina had both of her knees replaced about 2 weeks ago and was already walking better with less pain.
Yesterday at 5:30 a.m. Tina's only child, Ginny, was killed in a one car accident. Ginny was 20 years old and had soooo much to look forward to. She was going back to ETSU this fall, she finally knew she wanted to go back to school, she wanted to succeed, she had SO much life ahead of her.
Maggie (another Bestie from work) and I spent a good part of the day with Tina and her family---Tina comes from a large close family. When we arrived at Tina's Mom's house there were a large number of people there family members, church members, and friends and neighbors . It made me remember what it was like to live in a rural area in the south---as soon as bad news gets out(and that "telegraph" is fast) people start coming to see what they can do and bringing food, drinks etc. (Maggie said there could not be one case of cokes or little Debbie cakes left in Scott County) But that is what we do in the old south-- we try to feed you at every opportunity.
we all knew there was really nothing we could do for Tina, Billy, Ginny's dad, Joan (grandma) or the rest of the family---so we were just there for them. At one point in the afternoon there must have been nearly 50 people there. I only knew 4 people (including Maggie) but we all grieved with the family. The heartbreak was palpable there on the porch... the sobbing which was renewed with each new arrival...oh the need to do SOMETHING,anything to help Somehow.. Anything!!
we stayed until late in the afternoon to come home to mourn some more and to leave the family to mourn alone...
Today Tina had to go to the funeral home and pick out a casket for her baby girl--her "terrible" two year old--the child that she loved so much.. the little tween who life was so hard for...the girl that had so much potential..who was growing up to be a productive adult person with a lot going for her. And she had met a nice young man--who made her happy--who treated her with respect-- who even spent money on her--who was smitten. Tina said she looked so forward to Ginny getting married and having children (as she knew Ginny wanted a "house full" of children) and someday of Tina and Billy being grandparents.
This is something that no one should have to go through... I covet your prayers for Tina from anyone who reads this. Tomorrow Tina and family and friends face a visitation and funeral for a 20 year old woman who had it all to live--who was a daughter, granddaughter,friend and playmate to Orick

hello out there--if anyone reads this-- i have recently been told that two certain someones that I need to update my blog. And they are both not checking this blog because i am not writing anything. so-- here i go-- It has been a long hard winter for me.. did i ever mention that winter is just - - -well- - -difficult for me? it is..
good news coming is that our lovely daughter is getting ready to graduate with her master's in history and ---dahhh dahhh dummm-- has been offered and accepted the opportunity to get her Ph.D with a full ride.
She is a lovely young woman that i am sooooo proud of. I cant believe that that cranky teen has become a lovely young woman. i think she is someone to be proud of --she has accomplished much-- she moved to a college town where she really had no one to depend on 2 1/2 hrs away from home which is a small rural town. Then after she got her Bachelor's degree (in 4 yrs), she moved another 3 1/2 hrs away to a large city (one of the largest in the south)for another 2 yrs.
now she is getting prepared to move the same 3 1/2 hrs back to the first college town she lived in and is working on her Ph.D........
yes, it has been a rough time for the entire family- - -we have missed so many things in her life--she is the only woman/child we will ever have--we are not living in the same time zone-- it is sad--- we may NEVER live in the same time zone as our daughter...
OK 'nuff said because that is just too sad
in the great computer crashes i lost most of the pictures i had taken in the last 6 months.... ok-- wait that is sad too.... I guess i will just do myself in and start working on the IRS reports that have to be in the 15th... I think this is the latest i have ever waited to do our taxes- - - - maybe. another.symptom.of. my self. . . . .

so far in 2010 we have had two (count 'em 2) computer crashes..i have lost all addresses and everything i had on the computer.....6 months of pictures (yes--i am a goober--i didn't have them on disk yet).
This weekend we were supposed to go to Memphis to see the daughter--Wednesday I started having trouble with my right eye. Painful enough to keep me awake at night. Friday Mr S took the dogs to the kennel and i made a appointment with the opthamologist..... we still had hopes of going to Memphis and getting there later. Sylvia's (Dr) words broke my heart.. "no, you are not going to Memphis this weekend!" me--"but my car is all ready--we are on our way" Sylvia---'nope-- you are maybe contagious--back home you go" So Instead of going to Memphis I have spent the weekend in bed with my ipod--but I am better and am going to work tomorrow..... save that day off for when i really can go to Memphis.
Watching lots of TV (I know!) and the Winter Olympics--they have had snow trouble--not enough.. we have had snow trouble too--way a lot. Very unusual for us-- i will try to post some pics. they are safe still on the camera

Happy Birthday to my Big brother... We were supposed to be together today. Too bad he was born in January. I was supposed to be in Western Kentucky today to celebrate the day of his birth. I planned to take him date bars and cream horns fro Pattycakes Pastries... Alas a snow storm interfered. Ahh well ...maybe soon I will get to see him. I haven't seen him since August when he had his first hip replaced.
Now, he has been to rehab, he has been home for a while, he has had another hip replacement, he has been to rehab again and is now home again. I miss him a lot. I miss being with him on his birthday.
My big brother is nearly 8 years older than me (3 months less 8 years to be exact). He has always been my protector and my friend. He is a part of the foundation that makes me who I am. He has been with me through the good times and the bad times (even the terrible horrible bad times) and the joyous times.
I am so thankful for his better health. I am thankful for his lovely helpmeet Susie. I am so thankful she loves him and he loves her. I am thankful for their happiness and their family.
I miss being with him on his birthday

one thing I LOVE about weekends---I get to stay in bed and sleep as much as I want too. Despite the neurologist warning me that this is not a good thing. it feels so luxurious to be able to lay in bed and plan all the things I want to do and think all the thoughts I want to think in the peace of my comfy warm bed...and know I don't have to get up unless I want to.

Tying to get caught up on my poor abandoned blog. I'm home from work with tummy troubles today, but am feeling some better now.
The fall depression has hit hard and I cant wait until Dec. 23 gets here and the days get infinitesimally longer each day. I love early fall-- when the days are colorful and crisp----but this time of year...well not so much.
I admit I am having a hard time---a really hard time with the holiday coming up. I think I will just cancel Christmas this year... no Tree....no extra cooking.... no celebration.. no ....no....no

My old washer was purchased in about 1989 and the dryer prior to that--it may have even been my mother in law's and she has been dead for 23 years so i don't know how old it is. This is the day we celebrate the birth of my dear hubby, Mr S.

Funny story-- on the day of Mr S's 5th birthday and at a party full of little boys, Edith (his Mom) had to leave the party with Charles in charge (his Dad). Seems she was in labor with my Mr S's little sister.... and later that day miss Nancy came into world. She was born 5 years on the same day as my Mr S. Nancy always felt a little left out because she got a cupcake for her birthday instead of a real big cake. Poor baby

He spent most of the day today stacking lumber after he and super brother-in-law cut down the trees (the last two weekends) and then sawed it into lumber.. so we can build a workshop and a porch for me

trying to get caught up on the old posting. Tonight's post is about 3 dogs, two bones and a pigs ear. Tonight as we got home from shopping i decided to give the dogs a treat as they had been alone all day.

Sadiey is the Black Cocker Spaniel (age 14) Mo is the daschund (10 years) and Maggie (brindle colored chihuahua) is the baby of the group (at about 5 years old)

I had two Bondo bones and a pigs ear---usually that would work ok since Saidey likes the Bondo bones, Maggie loves the bondo bones and Mo craves the chewing the pigs ears. said the magic words "who wants a treat" and was instantly surrounded by loving doggies. well anytime you get these three together the two older dogs get a choice of the treat.... Sadiey took one of the bones, Mo took the Pig ear and Maggie was left with the other bone....

then the fun starts--- Saidey carries her bone around hanging out of her mouth like a cigar (she is really betting it moist enough so she can chew it) Maggie carries hers somewhere she can leave it and then tries to steal someone elses..

Tonight Maggie stole Mo's ear and carried them both to the courch, where she had hidden her bone, and left to see if she could manage to wrangle Saidey's bone as well..... while Maggie was gone Mo hopped up to the couch and took over the ear and the bone LOL

next Maggie goes to see if she can sneak the last one from Saidey(eventhough Mo is eating her treat in the meantime) Mo see's what is going on and thinks he may be missing something---so in the end the two goofy dogs sit and watch Saidey enjoy her treat and not be able to enjoy theirs for worrying about it--- and Saidey is oblivious to their problems and loving her Bondo Bone. .....after they get done watching Saidey they will both go get their own treat and have a good time

today's' POTD was taken on the way to work---sunrise. we have had a really surprising summer-- really cool compared to usual---but today there was no rain and the weather was seasonable.

I saw this on the back of a truck on the way home tonight..... I so believe this statement. i don't care what you think about the war we are in-- i don't care what your political beliefs are. i just think we need to support our troops--- no matter what! My nephew is getting ready to be deployed again, my father was in WWII, my FIL was in the service, my great uncle was in WWI and my great great great (however many greats it is) was in the civil war and his brother on the other side... so i support our military This is what i saw... please take it and re post it if you want to----- I love it

anyway on my way home tonight Mr S called me and told me to stop by Amy's house (Amy is my wonderful dear friend) because she had some fresh veggies she meant to leave at our house earlier.... so there i went. The woman is extraordinary!!my picture of the day today is the bounty of the good earth that God blessed us with... and a helping of good old fashioned work by Amy and company. i brought the goodies right home and Mr S and i got busy-- i gave him some "on the job training" on cole slaw making and cooked up some of the corn and squash and onion.. here is a picture of my plate!

it was a blessing to get the good veggies and we surely did enjoy it a ton. now i have to go cook the green beans and fresh potato's--- more yumminess in store!

A sure sign that the 4th of July is right around the corner.... fireworks tents. Here in our corner of the world there are a plethora of fireworks tents popping up. Seems like there is one in every spare parking lot (even Walmart's parking lot has one this year) Yes, our county still allows fireworks.... so there is a thriving venue for making money and people "blowing" thier money up LOL

several months ago on a Sunday afternoon, Mr S decided to go out in the boat. He got the dogs (his faithful companions) and all his gear and went to get the boat ready to take to the lake. ...Well, it wasn't too long before he came back to the house with the news that we had been robbed! The boat motor was stolen right off of the boat in the yard.

He called the police and filed a report..... then on Monday Mr S went to the local marina to see if anyone had tried to sell one. Much to his delight they had the guy on tape trying to sell what looked like our boat motor.

Anyway, many months later (2 weeks ago) Mr S got a subpoena to appear in court this morning. We went---it was hot---it was crowded---it was sad (so many people in bad situations)-- not to mention that i had to go back to the car twice after we got there because you cant have a cell phone--OK I get that-- but you cant have a camera either!!---anyway-- the guy was ordered to pay restitution by 9/14/09 or we have to go back....sigh.....

today was unusual because Medic was having an appeal for blood on Sunday---usually they are Monday-Friday and occasionally a Saturday. But i have never seen them get donations on Sunday. Anyway Mr S, went and donated a unit. I have donated blood sine 1983 and now they wont take my blood because of one of the drugs i take (bummer!!). I guess Mr S will have to be our donate-or from now on. Donate Life!!!

Juan is the box turtle and hails from the Tennessee Aquarium as a gift from Katie, many years ago. She brought him for us when she went on a school trip.

Father's Day

Today reminds me how just plain lucky I am. I was so blessed to find the perfect-for-me husband right off the bat--first time. Mr S is the worlds best dad. He should be the father of a bunch of little girls and boys. Too bad the heavenly father thought different---well I guess His plan is perfect no matter what it is. good qualities for a wonderful daddy--which just happen to be some of Mr S's best qualities

Brother and Sister-in-law extraordinaire

this is Mr S's sister Lois and her hubby Mark. The host and hostess with the mostest! We had a early FD cook out at their house today. We were invited over along with Charlie and Lillian, Daniel and Katie. today was my six month check up with Dr Mende--my eye doctor. I have to visit her frequently because of the medication I am on. It is something that has a potential for damage to the eye. Anyway--- her pronouncement is that "you have the driest eyes I have ever seen" words like "instant tear break up" and "they are supposed to last at least 15 seconds"---- "back on restasis" ----"genteal"--- "you HAVE to make sure you do this every single day"---"punctal plugs again"

so there you have it-- i have punctal plugs again (silicone plugs in my tear ducts to make sure what tears i do make stay in my eye and don't drain out), back on Restasis and will see Dr Mende again in 6 months

today was a day that my friend,Maggie, has worked hard for. Way back last year when we found out we were sold at work and there was so much uncertainty, Maggie made a change. She decided to enroll in beauty school and become a nail tech-- just the same time i decided to work on getting my CPC.

Anyway today, at 9:30 pm, our little WKWKW graduates. We are all so excited for her. She has worked full time, gone to school full time, kept up with 3 teens and a husband, a sick mother and the rest of the things we all do everyday.

The little group of us (and the wonderful Jennifer--who was not in the previous picture for some reason) got together and gave her a basket full of goodies, a cookie cake, and a decorated cube. She was so surprised---she cried.

The card we gave her was made by one of my scrappy friends......cant remember who made it but if you did and you made it please let me know. It is an awesome card. beautiful

Today I saw a Mimosa tree in bloom. i was driving to fast to get a photo of it--so I got this one from the net...cant remember who to give credit too...sorry

anyway the blossoms of this tree always remind me of my childhood.We had a large Mimosa tree that was growing on the edge of the yard. To me it was a summer happening-- it meant the long lazy days of summer were here for a while.

I loved that tree so much. To me it looked like a fairy house.. (see i loved fairy's even then) with the little flowers being the fairy clothes hanging on the clothes line to dry. I thought the little leaves (which curled up when you touched them) were a toy the fairy's left for me... sorta magic how they curled up and then came back to normal afterwards.

Mother always disliked that tree-- because the dying flowers made a mess in the yard, the sap made the car all sticky and they were hard to clean up.

But I did like that tree a whole lot.

Tonight we went to eat dinner at Charlie and Lillian's and to renew acquaintance with Mr S's cousins Betty Ann and her DH David. We figured out it has been about 25 years since we last saw them. Their children were little and they had two beagles came through on the way to Arkansas.Anyway we have exchanged Christmas cards and that is about it. I loved seeing them again (Betty Ann is the daughter of my FIL's older brother) It seemed like just seeing a old friend that i had not seen in a long time. What fun. I cant wait to see them again. They currently live in Maine and have invited us to visit-- i cant wait

I think there is something in the pond eating my fish. We put those 20 in there on Friday and they have not been seen since..... I think there is some mysterious something down there eating them. Mr S declares that they have to still be there ---because there is no place they can go.... meanwhile there are now 8 Lilly leaves growing up

I started back to the Y with a vengeance today--- vow to go 4 days this week.... still have not lost ANY weight again

today is the "traditional" Memorial day--way back from when we celebrated holidays on the day they actually fell on the calendar---not on Friday or Monday so we could have a 3 day weekend

We got to spend part of the evening with Mr S's sister Lois, her hubby Mark, and their delightful grandson Micah. He just turned 6. When we got there Mark and Micah were working on the fort they are building. We also had a impromptu cookout. What fun we had talking, visiting and playing.... what fun it is to be around Micah and have him really talk to us. This POTD was taken as were were leaving and Lois was pulling Micah's ear to try to get him to stand still (LOL)

OK--since it seems all of the other fish have departed existence so today I ventured to Petsmart after work and purchased 20 little comet goldfish and three little plants. today's POTD is our little Dachshund, Mo. He is such a great little dog and a typical dachshund. i love this quote H. L. Mencken said that "A dachshund is a half-dog high and a dog-and-a-half long,"

anyway--I don't know if you have ever sen the Petsmart commercial with the Dachshund and his long Loofa dog toy named BoBo. Well, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3FEM-pPfBQ) our little Mo loves BoBo too. When i was in the Petsmart yesterday they had BoBo's on clearance. ...and he got a coupon for $4 off since this is his birth month---BoBo's are usually $6.99 each and they had them 1/2 price.......so Mo got 3 new BoBo's for his Birthday(10th) . Today he has played all afternoon with BoBo-- he really only wants to play with it when I am home and he just tears the stuffing out and wants to destroy the squeaker LOL

thus the POTD:---and please, please notice the cat toys and litter box in the second picture of the hallway---we have a lot of pets!

Edited to add---bad news. when I got home tonight Mr S greeted me with the bad news that at least one of the new fish did not survive---was doing the side stroke and half his tail was gone---wish I knew what got him...We cant tell for sure how many of the seven are left--but know one is gone for sure

So I went back to the Y for the first time since vacation---worked out for one hour--the instructor never showed up.

Then after that I ran to Petsmart to get some fish and plants for the new pond. The POTD is not too great but i got 7 fish (red mouth minnows--goldfish LOL), a snail and 4 water plants. There was no indication of what the plants really were or info on them. So I picked out the 3 I thought most attractive (I got 2 of one kind) and wrote down the names so I could look them up when I got home. One of them turns out to be sweet flag (a kinda iris looking thing) which is something I wanted to get anyway---so now we have 7 fish---waiting to see how the 12 cent each fish do before we put the big fish out there, 6 plants and a snail (gosh just about forgot the pollywog's and the mosquito larvae--which is what the fish are supposed to eat).

whew-- what a week. we had a blast at the beach--but now back home. it is taking me a while to get all "blogger caught up" I have all of them ready to post just slow getting it done....

anyway--today's POTD reflects where this last week has been --- we drove 350+ miles on two Saturday's in a row (to SC and back to TN) and some driving while there....we didn't do much driving while we were there but here it is--- the most we paid for gas was $2.34 gal in a little town in SC so that wasn't too bad

today is our last day of vacation....

we all got so sunburned yesterday we opted to stay in today and went to the theatre to see "Night at the Museum" cute movie. our little historian enjoyed it greatly

Today was laid back . Mr S and I went to the beach early in the morning/afternoon and I got to lay on the sand and soak up some sun-- these were my nearest visitors.... Mr S walked on the beach and looked for shells. It was still to cold to be in the water. Meanwhile Katie and Brad were back at the pool lazing around.-- we all managed to get a good dose of sun burn

in the afternoon we made our trek to Huntington Beach State Park http://www.huntingtonbeachstatepark.com/Atalaya.htm . It is such a fun place to visit and we always have a good time there. We went through Atalaya and renewed our acquaintance with the beauty there. This was the first thing we saw there.... he was huge- if you looked really close you could tell he was asleep in the sun.

We drove up to the jetty parking lot and started out to walk to the jetty---probably about 1.5 miles. Somehow, being on vacation we had lost track of the days and the times and what time high tide was. I never walk all the way to the jetty because of the pain walking on the sand causes my hip. K and B took off walking and were out of site pretty soon. Mr S and I were looking for some shells to add to our collection and slower . After a while I was ready to stop and Mr.S went on to take some pics of K and B. I waited on the sand.

One thing we had both commented on was that the sandy beach seemed to be shorter to the ocean. While i was sitting there all alone (could not see one other human in any direction) with the ocean fast approaching high tide, the salt marsh and alligators behind me and nothing beside me... i got scared. I am not a brave person to begin with but this was totally out of my realm of experience. I got as close to the dunes as i could where i was and then decided when the next wave left i needed to make a run for it and find more beach......gotta admit i was a little more afraid.lucky for me i found the next hunk of land was a little longer and soon enough here came Mr S, K and B---- oh and i found a perfect sand dollar .

this morning at 4 am Katie and Brad arrived to have fun at the beach with us. The S's walked down to the beach while Brad caught up on some sleep.

Mr S and Katie walked the beach..it was too cold to get in the water still.

these little fellas were near our Villa. We looked for them every time we wet out. They were so neat. We watched them many times to see what they were up too. They were living in a drain pipe near the inlet. Once we came out to their area and saw one of the smallest wandering around ..we were still and listened .... and heard the mom calling the baby to come home.. we even got to watch the little one look around and then go to the pipe and go home

we loved these pretty little flowers growing on the beach--not sure what they are except pretty

we were still pretty tired from being up most of the night so we spent a lot of time just lazing around the by the pool and in the hot saltwater tub Brad especially loved it

Today at the beach was frigid. This morning it was 49 degrees!! I have never been at the beach at this time of the year and it been sooooo cold. We had to wear coats to walk on the beach.....and we were nearly alone (just met a few people) even the lifeguards were freezing in warm ups and jackets

from the few pics we took you can tell how cold and windy it was.... brrrrr. Mr S spent a lot of time working on his fishy puzzle and i read a lot.

We have always tent camped at Myrtle Beach so this was a different kind of vacation for us. We drove in and out of rain the whole way here. The villa is nice and roomy and comfy. The surrounding area is nice as well. We are on the fourth floor and have a screened in porch.

we leave for the beach in the morning between 7:30 and 8 am YEAH!!!! eight hours of driving and 7 days of fun. We really need a vacation and cant wait to get there. it has been rushed trying to get everything done and ready.

tonight we met Mark and Lois at the Good Ol' Days for dinner and then they came back here for a short visit. About the time we left the house and got in the car we had some of the worst rain ever--including hail. it was raining so hard the rain was jumping back up into the air. it was going pretty high too . the picture isn't very good but it is the water in the pond "jumping" out of the pond

OK folks.... I have a question for you. Since I joined the Y(March 1) and have been going to aqua size most of the time 4 days a week, at least 3 times a week and only missed one week--last week. I have been staying and working hard every time I go. i stay at least one hour and most of the time 1.5 hours.... once or twice i did have to leave early after 35 minutes because I got sick..... Anyway-- here is the question (Finally you say???) Why have i not lost any weight at all?? yes my fat is more firm but my tonnage is still the same. After 10 weeks i am getting frustrated... yes i know muscle weighs more than fat and i am building muscle---but C'mon already! Geesh

Right next to the beautiful flowers was a big mound of what i later learned were fire ants. young Mr Brock--age 7 ish) came out and told me all about fire ants and how they got here and how many are probably in that mound according to the size of the mound.

Celebrating spring with a new garden--- tomatoes, cucumbers and squash

three different kinds of tomatoes and more cucumber's than we will ever eat (OK I thought there were only 9 plants in the pack so three hills of cucumbers--didn't know there were three or four plants in each part of the pack) I just wanted to make some bread and butter pickles. If you live around here in a couple of months from now i can hopefully fix you up for cucs. Had trouble finding Squash plants (the little yellow crook necks) so Gary's dad gave me some seeds. I also can not find zucchini and I guess I missed the onion sets too because I cant find any of them either....Looking forward to fresh tomatoes----

soooo--- today we went on our way to Memphis. By the time we got started last night and drove a while we made it just on the other side of Nashville to Dickson. It started getting dark and stated to rain so we decided to stop where we were. It rained an stormed so hard during the night we were almost shaken out of the bed.
today we started off the rest of the way to Memphis--- raining so hard at times we couldn't see where we were going.... but that was OK because we were all going about 35 MPH on the interstate.
Anyway we had seen this sign the last time we went there for the Tennessee Freshwater Pearl Museum in Birdsong,TN so there we decided to stop there. Our advice for this tourist destination--- DON'T. #1-- there is no Museum #2--look at the prices for the "tours" on the sign where i am standing...... UMMMM it is in a little store in a Marina about 12 miles of the interstate on a little twisty country road.....

we did make it to Memphis and our hotel fine and had dinner with Katie and Brad at the American Cafe'.. beautiful desserts

oh and the other thing is part of a wedding gift for Tina and Billy-- making wooden letters of their last name. Each letter has a different theme- I think it is pretty cool---so far

Mr S has worked like a Trojan on the waterfall this spring. he has it going some times LOL... He has added lots of extra rock to the bottom near the liner.........soon we will be ready for fish(ies) to join Fish in the outdoor sanctuary {{{ let me explain that Fish (with a capital-as in a proper name) that lives in a tank in the living room will soon move outdoor with some new little friends that wait at the store for us}}}

We have already acquired some wild frogs that are enjoying the water and wetlands area---love the sound of "peepers" in the spring

We have the Lily in and growing leaves for shade and the hopefully a white flower. We have also planted 3 cat tails growing to help with the purification... not sure what else we can put in there--it is a learning process this year

my funny Mr S... Friday night when I went to Jo's I got Mr. S a dark chocolate Milky Way (mainly because I was starving and wanted one--but i digress). I forgot to give it to him until today. I gave it to him tonight and he stuck it in his back pocket...... Well today was not a cool day around here--and with his body heat added.... this is what happened to his candy bar

I was blessed to go to Tina and Billy's wedding. It was such a wonderful event. I loved watching two people who love each other pledge to love each other for always. The bride was beautiful. The groom was handsome. The church was beautiful. The reception was wonderful.

Tina and Billy worked hard with a difficult situation to make a beautiful day... nothing else to say except it was a day full of LOVE-- Tina and Billy deserve the best life has to offer and they are well on their way to a life time of love and joy

this time of year always makes me kinda sad and morose. This year particularly so. My mother passed away 4/9/1982. It happened to be Good Friday. She was buried on Easter Sunday 4/11/1982. This year the dates were eerily close to the date all those years ago... ready for some cold chills?? She was born on Christmas Day 12/25/1922. The similarities of Christ life always struck me..... same birth day and same day of death. I always thought it fitting that she was buried on Easter Sunday--- The day that gives us hope in the future in Heaven

now my wonderful Mother (Mary Christmas May Jackson) did not have a easy life....she grew up in the depression on a farm--poorer than dirt apparently. She worked for the company that took their family farm, was exposed to toxic substances while at work, married the man she loved-who loved and hurt her unbearably-- had three children (two who grew to adulthood), worked hard every day as a cook in a restaurant and later in a sewing factory, got sick and suffered horribly from the toxicity that she was exposed to all those years before... and finally died at age 59 years old.........so very very very sad. She loved her children more than life itself. She was a great Mom and I still miss her
